Your details deserve a clear explanation.
Draft for owner and legal review before public launch. This page describes the proposed service; it is not a final legal document.
Information used to deliver the service
Property enquiry forms request contact details and your message. We associate an enquiry with the relevant property and agency so the listing team can respond.
Agency access and contact forms collect the details you provide. Portal records include account access, submitted listings and listing activity. Avoid sending identity documents, bank details or sensitive information in a general enquiry.
Who receives an enquiry
The relevant listing team receives your property enquiry. Platform administrators can manage records and investigate service issues. Hosting and email providers may process information to operate the service.
The final policy must identify the configured providers, storage locations, overseas disclosures, retention periods and complaint process. These deployment details are not confirmed by this draft.
Visit records and your visitor ID
When you browse Budget Property, your browser gets a random visitor ID in a first-party cookie called bp_visitor. It lasts up to 13 months and is not shared with advertising networks. Because it can single out one browser over time, we treat it, and the visit records linked to it, as personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Each page visit is recorded against that ID: the time, the page and any listing, suburb or price range it shows, the website or campaign that referred you, your device type, browser and operating system, how long the page stayed open, and an approximate location (city or region) that our hosting provider works out from your connection. Your IP address is not kept with these records. If you are signed in, the visit is also linked to your account.
We use these records to run and secure the site and to give agencies campaign statistics. Agencies see totals for their own listings, such as views, saves and enquiries. They do not see visitor IDs, locations of individual visitors or IP addresses. Platform administrators can see the visit records themselves to investigate problems and misuse.
Detailed visit records are deleted after 14 months. After that we keep only daily totals per listing, which contain no visitor ID. You can reset your visitor ID at any time by clearing this site's cookies in your browser.
Access, corrections and questions
Use the contact form to ask about information you submitted, request a correction or raise a privacy concern. The team may need to verify your identity before acting.
Optional marketing must have its own choice. A property enquiry should not silently become permission for unrelated marketing.
